Coach Education is an important initiative with St. Albert Soccer. We provide coaching courses for all levels and age groups to ensure that you are equipped with the right tools for the job.

To be considered eligible to receive the Coach Credit, you must be a Coach in Good Standing by having the following completed:
- Registered using the Volunteer Positions Form
- Accept the Coaches Code of Conduct
- Agree to the SASA Sexual Harassment & Abuse Policy
- Have a valid CRC completed and on file in our office.
All Coach Credits will be issued at the end of each season by applying the credit to the player registration of that season. These credit can be used for future registrations in youth soccer programs with SASA.
All coaches are required to have a Criminal Record & Vulnerable Sector Check (CRC) completed every 3 years.
First Time Coaches / Expired CRC's
- A "Letter of Introduction" for the Police Services will be emailed out. This letter validates that you as a volunteer and will reduce or eliminate the fee for this service.
- If your birthdate or gender are flagged, you will be asked to submit to fingerprinting to confirm your identity

With teams in the U13-U19 programs being registered to play in the EMSA Citywide league, any fines accrued by your team will be the responsibility of the team.

All U13 - U19 Coaching Staff & Players MUST have a SASA/EMSA Player ID Card.
This must be completed prior to the first game.
NO CARD = NO GAME. NO EXCEPTION
All player cards are done electronically and can be picked up within 3-5 days upon receipt of the email.

1. Bench Parents - must be the same sex as players
2. Team Manager - helps the coaches with game sheet prep, communications, etc.
3. Referee Liaison - MANDATORY position and must be listed on the game sheets. This position can be shared by more than one parent and cannot be part of the coaching staff.

Team fees are separate from the Registration fees. These fees can be used to cover tournaments, social gatherings, team bonding events, etc.
- It is acceptable to add 20% to your budget

Team photos are an optional purchase for families and are not covered by the registration fees.
SASA teams can book directly with MVP Sports Team Photos or with a photographer of their choice if their team wishes to have photos done.
Each team will be given a Team ID or designation.

EMSA Citywide/Club Team Names -St. Albert (Smith)/ St. Albert Impact (Black)
- Do not alter your Team ID on TeamSnap.
- The Team ID is used for online scheduling and EMSA game sheets.
- Include ID in the "Subject Line" of all correspondence with the office.
- When registering for tournaments, use only your assigned team name.
- Rosters will be published through TeamSnap in early April/ October. They can be accessed under My Teams & Team ID.
- Players must be contacted to introduce yourselves as the coaching team for the season.
- This can be done through TeamSnap, email or telephone. If it is done via TeamSnap/email, have them respond to ensure everyone has received it.

SASA provides a resource filled with session plans for all programs.
- Active Start

SASA Provides On-Field Equipment
SASA is dedicated to ensuring that the coaches are provided with the necessary equipment to run sessions for their players.
For the outdoor season, coaches will be required to carry the equipment.

Cost of missing equipment will be deducted from the Coach Credits for that team.
1. Please ensure the field and bench or dressing room area are clean of any garbage.
2. Do not leave till all the players are gone or picked up.
3. Never be alone with a player (see Rule of Two Policy).
- If you are in a position where you will be alone with a player at practice or game, engage in a conversation with another parent so that there are two adults present.
This is only applicable to teams participating in EMSA, U13-U19, who are in Tier 4 by the start of the final Round of that season's game schedule.
In order for teams to be eligible to participate at Provincials, coaching staff must be certified in Soccer for Life.
If your team has earned a spot, it is important that you make sure your players are available to attend. There is a fine of up to $1000 if teams withdraw after the final declarations.
Safety Equipment for Games & Practices
Mandatory equipment for all players is as follows
- Shin Pads
- Appropriate shoes
- Shorts
- Socks
Please note, it is important that the shin pads go underneath the soccer socks.
Sharp Shooters Training - U9/U11
- This program is designed around training players to score goals.
- The fee for this program is $80 (Outdoor). Separate registration is required.
Keeper Training
- Keeper Training is open to goalkeepers within our community programs.
- The fee for this program during the Outdoor season is $0. Separate registration is required.
Practices are done at the discretion of the coach.
Discuss with your team's parents if they are open to practicing 1 extra night/week.

Timbits Leagues
Equipment bins are provided for U4, U5 & U6 Timbits programs at lockups. Inside you will find 13 soccer balls (1 ball per player), 12 pylons and 24 cones, a first aid kit and a ball pump.
If any of the equipment is damaged or missing, please notify the office ASAP. In many cases we have programs running every day of the week.
Prior to your session, you will be required to collect an equipment bin & a bag of popup nets.
The equipment bins and popup nets will be located inside the Rink Shacks at the fields. Closer to the start of the season, a code for the door lock will be emailed out.
It is imperative that the last person at the field ensure that all equipment is returned to the lock-up, the building is secured and the lock is shut.
- Team Blanket Monitor
- This role will require a parent to sit at the team blanket and ensure the players are seated and not running around interfering with other games.
- Time Keeper
- This role will require a parent to keep track of playing time and organizing the substitutions for the next shift.
These roles can be performed by the same parent each game or be rotated between a group of parents.
- Name Tags
- Names tags are a great way to learn the players names quickly.
- By learning the players names, you are able to create a more personal playing experience for the young ones.

- a great way for teams to organize their water bottles so that they don't get lost

The Timbits jerseys now come pre-packaged, therefore, we do not have the flexibility to influence the sizes or styles.
In the event that two teams may have duplicate colors for their game day, we will provide spare jerseys at the field to help differentiate the two teams during their game.
Game Day Procedures
If your team is short players for any reason, you are allowed to call up registered players to fill in your roster. Please check the EMSA Trialist Rules.

Game Day Protocols

- SASA Game Sheets (U11)
- EMSA Game Sheets (U13 - U19) - The game sheets are done and submitted electronically from your EMSA portal.
- Referee Liaison (U11 - U19) - The purpose of this position is to be a buffer between the spectators/coaches and the referee. This mandatory program was put into place to curb the verbal abuse that referees receive while officiating games.

Referee No-Show Procedure
- In the event that a Referee does not show up for a scheduled games

- For U13 - U19 teams, please consult your EMSA Coach Online Kit for No Referee Procedures specific to your age group.
- The coaches do have the option to play the game if the Referee is not in attendance.
